This Cheap Skate Doesn’t Skimp on Laughs
Comedian Rob Haney is a cheapskate. According to Bob and Tom, he’d squeeze a dollar bill so tight George Washington would scream. This Cheap Skate won’t skimp on the laughs as he performs this weekend at Mason City Limits Comedy Club. Haney uses gentle recognition humor about parents and kids delivered in a warm manner – similar to Andy Rooney if he used a few more four letter words. This stand-up comedian turns the trivialities of everyday life into the kind of humor that touches the common thread in all of us. He laughs at life, but the audience is laughing the hardest.
Rob has appeared with such stars as the Smothers Brothers, Neil Sedaka and Leon Russell. His television credits include HBO, Comic Relief, and The Showtime Comedy Club Network. Haney appears on and writes for The Bob & Tom Show. Haney's well known on the show for his poem about personal hygiene (which can be found on the obscure B&T album, Factory Air) and his joke about the talking dog (which is available on the album, Gone Wild). Haney has also written jokes for Jay Leno’s monologue on The Tonight Show.
Besides performing for over twenty years, Haney also owns his owns Wiley’s Comedy Club in Dayton, Ohio. Wiley’s in the oldest comedy club in the state of Ohio and was one of the first venues Mason City Limits Owner, comedian Chris Speyrer, performed at when he first started in 1989. Wiley’s is also one of the few comedy clubs where superstar comedian Dave Chappelle still performs.
Rob Haney performs for two shows each on Friday, March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd at 7:15 & 9:30. The 7:15 show on Friday is a nonsmoking show. Dave Zage also performs on the show.
